Born 1958 in Biel, Switzerland, actually living in the Jura Mountains with the family.

He started in the music field very young playing in pop and dance music bands.
In 1971 He met Guido Mazzon and He was invited to be part of "Contemporary Group, one of the teams that have contributed to the birth of free jazz in Italy
Then He played with "Trio Idea" (with Gaetano Liguori), even with long curly, up to now. He played with Massimo Urbani, Danilo Terenzi, Sergio Fanni, Sandro Satta, Pasquale Liguori , just to name a few.
In the '70s Del Piano worked with the NEEM/Tea-trazz Orchestra with Francesco Donnini and Edoardo Ricci.
In 1979 he joined the "Quatter Jazz Quartet with his brother Enrico, Mario Fragiacomo (later replaced by Massimo Falascone), Marco Lasagna and , in 1983, He took part to the Contemporary Group.
In 1988 He was in the experimental group "Musimprop" with Massimo and Paolo Falascone and Filippo Monico Over the years he had the opportunity to collaborate with important musicians like:, Eric Boeren, Tristan Honsinger, Eugenio Sanna, Roberto Bellatalla, Frank Lowe, Tommaso Vittorini, Don Cherry, Andrea Centazzo, Davide Zaccaria, Nino Locatelli, Ivano Nardi, Demetrio Stratos, Alberto Mandarini, Giovanni Monteforte, Martin Mayes, Radu Malfatti

Musical explorer, has performed and recorded in many and variated musical universes in addressing different languages such as jazz, the instant composition, live music for silent movies, and more, interacting with the worlds of dance, theater, performances with resounding sculptures; teaching ( at Conservatorio di Musica di Bari, jazz drums level 2 on 2004-2006, and collaborations with M° G. Lenoci at Conservatorio di Musica N.Rota - Monopoli ) .
Art director for jazz clubs and for Teatro Jazz Fest. ( Lecce '98-'99 ), Fonomanie Impro.
Music Fest. ( Bari 2003 - 2005 ), Fonosextant - Monopoli 2007, Fonosextant-Bari 2011/2012, , work in Juke Box all'Idrogeno ( Teatro Abeliano 2001-2010 ) and have composed instant music for "Tumberlain the Great" by C. Marlowe ( Rome, Teatro Colosseo - 2010 ), and work with Norontako Bagus Kentus ( dancer from Indonesia ) In Italy and Europe has worked in several projects ( concerts, recordings, etc. )
involving the most significant musicians of jazz and italian artists and improvisers in the world scene as : Mal Waldron, Peter Kowald, Jim Dvorak, Steve Potts, Joelle Leandre, John Tchicai, Beniat Achiary, Carlos Zingaro, Michel Godard, Tom Varner,Harri Sjostrom, Sakis Papadimitriou, Kent Carter, William Parker, Keisuke Otha,Yasuhiko Tachibana, Ninni Morgia, Gary Smith, Matthias Boss, Pasulo Chagas, Joao Filipe, Maresuke Okamoto and others guest.
Have realized resounding sculptures with M.Volpe ( Byo-Faccia - 1987 ),with M° Tullio De Gennaro ( RingMantraDan 2002 ), have collaborations with M° Andrea Dami ( last work is "Liquid Reflex", music for sound sculptures ), and have played in solo concert with sound sculptures by Plensa, Marrocco, Chen Zen.
He as made numerous recordings for various labels such as:
